IZMIR REGION
The Izmir region in South-West Turkey is a regional economic and
logistic centre. About 11% of the GNP is generated in this region as
well as 18% of total Turkish export and 12% of its imports. Around 55%
of Turkish export passes one of the three harbours of Izmir.
The most relevant sectors are agriculture (17% of GNP), industrial
activities as e.g.
machine/textile/chemicals/metal/automotive/electronics industry (17%),
trade (15%), logistics (14%) and construction (12%). Furthermore,
tourism is a very important sector.
