ZAGREB REGION
Zagreb, the capital of the Republic of Croatia, as well as its
political, financial and cultural centre, is inhabited by
952,339 people which equals 20% of the nation’s total population and
accounts for 40% of the economy and 70% of the financial potential of
Croatia. In the surrounding County of Zagreb live about 310,533 people.
Much of the Croatia’s industry is located in Zagreb, including metal
processing, electrical appliances, textiles, chemicals,
pharmaceuticals, printing and leather industries, wood processing,
paper etc. Zagreb has long been the hub of all traffic in Croatia. With
their economic potential, Zagreb and the County of Zagreb offer all
kind of business opportunities. In addition to industry; tourism,
farming, crafts and services attract domestic and international
investors.
The city of Zagreb is relatively prosperous and developed by Eastern
European standards, although average income and prices are still below
the level of more western countries. In 2005, the unemployment rate in
Zagreb was around 8%, which equals half of the national average.  |
